It’s Wedding Season: Here’s What Not to Wear to a Wedding

Wedding season is here. I attended a wedding at the end of June for the first time in my adult life. It was fun, classy and I wore the wrong colour. Now, that was because I was told that the theme is red and blue at the day of the wedding. It’s a good thing that my hair is red, right?

As I saw quite a few other weddings at the day, and quite a few people wearing totally inappropriate things, I decided that it would be useful to talk about what’s appropriate and what’s not at a wedding. Now, I am no expert, but there are just a few things that just shouldn’t be done and worn at a wedding. Here it goes.

~~~
Сезонът на сватбите е тук. В края на миналия месец отидох на сватба за първи път в съзнателния си живот. Беше забавно, елегантно и роклята ми беше грешния цвят. Това се случи, защото разбрахме, че цветовете на сватбата са червено и синьо в самия ден. Добре, че поне косата ми е червена.
Тъй като видях още няколко сватби и доста хора се бяха облякли абсолютно неподходящо, реших, че ще е полезно да ви поговоря за това кое е подходящо за сватба и кое не е. Не съм експерт, но има няколко неща, които не трябва да се правят или носят на сватба.
Don’t show up in white if you are not the bride. It is just insulting. Let her have her day! Any type of white is off limits at a wedding unless the bride specifically requested you to be in white, which I highly doubt would ever happen. Pastels are a really foolproof option.
Anything too loud. That could be a bright red colour, or just a too fashion-forward outfit. Leave the couture for a different occasion. It is not the time to stand out.
Casual wear. This is a special occasion, after all, so don’t show up in the jeans and t-shirt you always wear. Find something nice, you shouldn’t look like you stopped by for a drink after work.
Uncomfortable shoes. Honestly, you shouldn’t wear uncomfortable shoes at any time, but given that there will be lots of standing and dancing, the last thing you want is hurting feet.
~~~

  9. I agree, and it shouldn’t look like you just walked in from the club with your decolletage or butt hanging out of your dress! I have worn red to a wedding, but I asked the bride before I bought it. She did not care, and in no way did it steal the spotlight. So I guess if you ask first, it could be okay!

    1. Yes, that’s a great approach! But if for some reason you cannot ask the bride, I’d say you’d be better if you steer clear of it! 🙂
